CrackBerry, that is. As in the BlackBerry.
I purchased one recently. Why? To be tied to my e-mail at all times of the day, of course. I thought it was a great idea, and it does come in handy at times. My days are always erratic so I'm not always in the office and it's nice to be able to troubleshoot something while en route to wherever I'm going. Needless to say, I've become addicted to it.
However, most of the time, I could do without my CEO's 11:52pm emails or my VP's 2:40am emails. I myself have been known to write an email or two at around 2:30 in the morning. Just last Wednesday night, as a matter of fact. A client issue actually woke me up in the middle of the night and I wrote a co-worker an email, at 2:31 in the morning.
Am I the only one that thinks there might be something wrong with that?!
Anyhooo, I don't mind the random emails so much as I mind that damn flashing red light that I wake up to EVERY morning. So, after I hit snooze several times, I finally roll over, unplug the crack (it really is like crack, if i knew what crack is like, but I've heard it's addicting), and scroll through all my emails to see what I'm in for that day. Are clients pissed? Is my CEO pissed? Do I have a laundry list of things I need to do right after I get into the office? Or, before I get into the office?
Let me just say that my CEO is an AWESOME boss. Hands down, the best boss I've ever had. But this man sometimes finds one time (usually later in the evening) to go through all his emails from the day and respond. So, many times I'll have at least four email replies from either the day prior or even week prior waiting for me in my inbox.
Usually, whatever is in my email inbox dictates how I'll feel as I'm getting ready for work and how big of a grouch I'll be.
I've tried to just not pay attention to the flashing red light in the morning. But, like crack, it's addicting and I have to eventually give in to the urge.
I'm weak. I know this.

Again... so alike! I have a "crackberry" for work as well - and that red light is so effing addicting. The one great thing about the red light is when it flashes because someone has just "BlackBerry Messengered" me. Those are good red light flashes. The others can go to hell. :-)
